The two moms are back on the road, or back in the air as the case may be! Our next adventure will take us to Cornwall and Devon in the UK. We are doing 3 countries in one day with a very pleasant stop at the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge in Toronto. This lounge affords Air Canada travelers (who have access or can purchase access) a comfy spot to rest during a layover. The International Lounge offers weary travelers a relaxing place to work, dine and enjoy a drink before their overseas flight. And we have done all of the above!
We were given a very warm welcome from Catherine, the morning and afternoon lounge manager as well as Peter the head manager of all the Air Canada Lounges in Toronto. The lunch offerings were Asian-inspired by the resident chef Himanshu Bhandari, and included Pho noodles, Thai chicken salad, and kale salad with corn. Certainly not your typical airport food court fare. Beer, wine and spirits were also available. Peter, the general manager also stopped by for a chat, and informed us of the dinner offerings prior to our boarding.
The biggest surprise of the day was meeting Andrew Taylor, the evening manager of the Maple Leaf Lounge, who hales from Cornwall! Andrew ran a historic inn called the Crumplehorn in the town of Polperro for years. He supplied us with lots of tidbits of information about Cornwall, and he has inspired us to alter our plans to take in some of his recommendations. You can never go wrong listening to the advice of a local!
Blog photos coming soon….technical difficulty! In the meantime, check out the pics here:
